The Sessa lab helped organize a meeting on transcriptome data at UF, sponsored by the Florida Museum of Natural History. The 1 KP, or 1000 Plants, Project, is sequencing the transcriptomes of over 1000 species of plants, in order to investigate a huge array of questions relating to phylogenomics and evolution of numerous traits across land plants. This meeting focused primarily on sporophyte-gametophyte comparisons and fern transcriptome data. The image above, from the 1KP site, illustrates the amounts of data available through the project for various plant lineages.
